Join an existing patrol or talk to us about building a team where you live. You don’t need police, security or patrol experience — just sound judgement, reliability and a willingness to learn.
We’ll meet first, prepare you through the Patrol Academy and make sure you understand the role before you join a group on shift.
We currently operate in Liverpool and surrounding areas, so you'll need to be within practical travelling distance to join patrols.
The Patrol app is available online now. iPhone and Android apps coming soon.
Submitting an application doesn't automatically make you a member of The Patrol or give access to member areas — those unlock once onboarding is complete and you've been approved as Patrol Ready.

Shifts a month
Evenings, mostly weekends. We build the rota around your life, not the other way round.
18+
Minimum age
Over 18, reliable and level-headed, and ready to accept the Volunteer Declaration before your first shift.

Application to first patrol
Roughly two weeks — a face-to-face meet, the Patrol Academy, then out with the group.

There is a place for people who care.
Tell us how you would like to help. A strong local team needs dependable Patrol Members, responsible leaders and people who can support activity around it.
Team Leader
Experienced members who brief the group, keep everyone in touch and make the call on the night.
First aid trained
Already hold a first aid qualification? Tell us — it's useful on shift, though never expected.
Event support
Community days, school and group talks, stalls. Step in when we need an extra pair of hands.

This is volunteering, not a job application. No CV and no experience needed.

We'll get in touch, answer any questions and arrange an informal face-to-face meeting.

Meet the Team
We'll meet in person, explain how The Patrol works and check photographic ID.
We view ID only. We do not retain copies of ID or record document numbers.

Onboarding
If we're both happy to proceed, you'll move into onboarding. This includes The Patrol Academy, required declarations and DBS/vetting where applicable.
The Academy starts with six Core Skills modules, completed at your own pace:
- Welcome to The Patrol
- Code of Conduct
- Safeguarding
- Emergency first aid awareness
- Legal Boundaries
- Becoming a Patrol Member
- Then keep learning through Patrol Learning and Refreshers & Updates. As The Patrol grows we'll keep adding optional courses to help members develop — Conflict Management is one example of what's planned — and we'll also find practical, in-person training you can attend.

Patrol Ready
Once all required onboarding steps have been completed and an admin has signed everything off, you'll become a full member and can start joining patrols.
